Welcome to Sunday Assembly Sacramento
David Noelle is a person who wonders more than many. He is a cognitive scientist who makes computer models of brain function, but his curiosity leads him down many roads. Over the years, he has participated in organized humanism and skepticism, contributing to the founding of multiple community organizations focused on related themes. David enjoys science fiction and considers himself to be oriented toward the future, but he is slowly learning to be present in the moment. That is where he engages with the kindnesses needed to weather a treacherous world. He prefers words with too many syllables. He will lecture for chocolate.

Emily Thompson is a humanist with a desire to grow inclusive communities. She became a Sunday Assembly board member in late 2023 and was elected Treasurer in March of 2024. Emily has a degree in Sociology and works for the California Department of Housing and Community Development, helping to create affordable housing for all Californians. She is also a Treasurer who notoriously tells people she is bad at math.
Luisa Morco has been on the SAS board since 2024. She is a Filipino-American, feminist, environmentalist, activist, animal lover, forever-student, volunteer, and dreamer. She and her siblings were raised around the world by a hard-working mother serving as a member of the United States Air Force. Luisa has a unique viewpoint on many aspects of the human experience, including what it means to truly be an individual. She uses this insight to help others tell their own stories, focusing on the things we can share with one another and how important it is to have a voice in this world of distractions and disconnections.
In 2011, Nancy visited her first Sacramento Freethought Community event: a lecture on brain activity and out of body experiences. She recalls that the best part was the friendly reception she was given there. So, when Sunday Assembly Sacramento was launched in 2014, she was all in, volunteering as the potluck and volunteer coordinator for the five years and now as a member of the Board. Nancy says Sunday Assembly helps people find community. "We continuously strive to make our chapter one where everyone is involved, everyone participates, everyone is valued."
